Dr. Muncie received his Doctorate of Psychology from the Georgia School of Professional Psychology in Atlanta. He has received extensive training in psychodynamically oriented, as well as, cognitively and interpersonally based therapeutic treatment approaches. Dr. Muncie currently provides psychotherapy to adults and older adolescents who present with varying issues and concerns that include but are not limited to depression, anxiety, interpersonal and relationship issues, and trauma. Dr. Muncie’s treatment approach incorporates cognitive and behavioral interventions as a natural extension of his psychodynamic training. However, beyond a person’s presenting issues, Dr. Muncie also addresses all aspects of a person’s functioning and lifestyle (e.g., diet, exercise, smoking, alcohol and substance use) and he routinely collaborates with health care providers and other professionals within the community to facilitate the continuum of care. In this regard, Dr. Muncie introduces clients to mindfulness practices and strategies to reduce stress and to increase their awareness about the mind-body connection.
In addition to providing psychotherapy, Dr. Muncie provides comprehensive psychological, psychodiagnostic, neuropsychological, and forensic evaluations to address a variety of referral issues and concerns to assist with diagnostic clarification and treatment planning. In this regard, Dr. Muncie routinely consults with physicians and other health care providers, psychiatrists, attorneys, and several state agencies. He is currently a member of the State Forensic Service and the Child Abuse and Neglect Evaluators Project and frequently works with the Department of Corrections and the Department of Health and Human Services.
Outside of his clinical practice, Dr. Muncie teaches both at the graduate and undergraduate levels and regularly holds workshops and presentations.
